Syncing apps removes folders

I just downloaded 2 apps and did a resync of my iPhone to add them. When I check, I find that most of the folders I'd carefully arranged earlier are gone; the app shortcuts are now directly on the home page. Some folders do remain. Any idea why this happens?

You have to organise your folders/apps etc from within itunes otherwise if you do a sync itunes will reset them to what they were previously..
just go into itunes, go to your iphone and select apps in the apps...arrange them in the windows there for how you like them and then select sync..

So changes I make will sync from iTunes to the phone, but not vice-versa? Very weird. Cheers!

nope... not here. Any apps I've arranged in folders, I've done on the phone only. Synced a good few times and every thing's stayed in place - FW 4.0.1. Could it be something in 4.0.2 (I don't know why really but iTunes says I'm up to date with 4.0.1?)

Do you have iTunes set to sync apps or do you drag them across? I've mine set to sync up apps and it has always kept the folders in place.
