Why is actress Zsa Zsa Gabor so famous when no-one has seen any of her films?

She's in The Naked Gun 2½.

Sure, she played many cameo roles but why is it big news this week that she's in hospital? I went through her filmography and none of her older films were classics. Most titles are not out on DVD either. Yet she's always been famous. Why?

Encyclopedia Brittanica (by which I mean Wikipedia) informs us:
Gabor has been married nine times. She was divorced seven times, and one marriage was annulled.

There you have it, married to the likes of Conrad Hilton. She's famous for being famous.

Between them, the Gabor Sisters were married 20 times, but only Zsa-Zsa had any children: one daughter.
    Eva: 5 times
    Magda: 6 times
    Zsa Zsa: 9 times
And some women wonder "where did all the good men go"? Zsa Zsa once said that she was a good housekeeper, because she kept the house after each marriage.

PS: Zsa Zsa's just a nickname / stage name, her real name is Sári (Hungarian).

She was forever appearing on chat shows in the 70s and 80s. As has been stated she was 'famous for being famous' mainly due to her beauty, charm, ambition, glamorous sisters (especially Eva) and umpteen marriages to various wealthy and famous men.
Not bad for a Hungarian girl who bedded Ataturk when she was sixteen!

Zsa Zsa's going back home for her "last days", according to reports. She may just be a "celebrity", but she also epitomises a particular era in Hollywood, the excesses of the 50s, before "flower power" and the puritanism of the 70s. If you've seen L.A. Confidential, that's got some of the same flavour. It will be the end of an era when she dies, so don't bother with "why all the fuss?" posts. :o
