If I wanted to restore my iPhone 4 which is on 4.0.1 and jailbroken with shsh on cydia what would the procedure be if I wanted to stay on 4.0.1 so I can remain jailbroken.
I have my 4.0.1 shsh's locally and also on cydia and I have umbrella downloaded so can use that to point my hosts to cydia

    I think....

You just edit your hosts file and add this line

    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

then put your phone into dfu mode and restore with firmware 4.0.1

I had to do this earlier today.

All I did was to download the 4.0.1.ipsw file and do a shift restore. When you hold down shift (use alt on a mac) and click restore in itunes you are prompted to select the restore file from your hard drive.

Then you just let it do it's thing. Had it all sorted in no time and was able to jailbreak again easy as anything.

What did you use to JB 4.0.1 ?

I thought JBME could do 4.0.1 or is there something else?

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

I just went to JBME on my iPhone. It worked. Have downloaded and used apps from the Cydia Store.
