Wireless SM58

    hey folks looking for advice please, just after buying a second hand wireless sm 58 and when i plugged it into a small desk which is connected to a speaker that i use as a monitor just to test it there is no vocals coming through just a humming noise, now i've put a new battery into the mic and the reciever light on the box is not lighting up, also there is a squelch button on the back which i've no idea what its for, the model of the system is t4a, thanks in advice.
