Irish Rail tickets

I am thinking of taking the train from Dublin to Galway after a match next Sunday, but would prefer to purchase the tickets from the booking office instead of putting up the cost of the credit card bill! So online the price(one-way) is €25, will it cost much more if I buy from the booking office?

I saw a price of €48 one-way, but surely this couldn't be right? Nearly €50 for a 2 and a half hour trip?

Any info or clarification would be welcome:)

Booking online is always cheaper for a single intercity journey

Experience has hinted that the online booking is somewhat cheaper, this being heavily pronounced with iarnrod eireann. The first-time dupe is taken for the 48 and doesn't repeat the mistake. However if you're keen on limiting expense on the cc, a tenner with citylink is your best ally :)

Online booking is indeed cheaper if you're making a single journey. It can often be cheaper to book a single in each direction rather than buying a return at the booking office.

and if you use the code o21071 when booking online you will save 20% off your fare. code expires on monday 16th August.

On Fridays and Sundays the full statutory single fare applies for tickets bought at booking offices. It is indeed EUR 48 - but you will be sold a Monthly Saver Return ticket which is the same price.
