How long does rent allowance take to come through? What are you supposed to do while you are waiting?

takes maybe 1 weeks for a claim,to be processed, but you may be waiting til the last week of the month be4 recieving a RA cheque, or money into your bank account, depends on your landlord, pay him what you can afford .CAN YOU GET A LETTER from the welfare officer ,my claim for ra has been accepted in respect of adress x.
RA IS not paid in advance, its paid every 4 weeks, once a month.

What if the letting agent wants it all every week? I heard you could be waiting over 6 months is this possible?

Your rent allowance will be paid at the end of the week/month whatever you ask for and yes there is a massive waiting list now as they are processed centrally in Dublin now and not by the CWO.
