Washing bras.

As the title says I am wondering about washing bras.

I normally hard wash them but have about 20 to wash at the moment, some padded, strapless, non-padded, lacy etc but all underwired. I really dont feel like spending this even up to my elbows in water so was wondering if it would be ok to pop them in a pillow and hop in the washing machine on a handwash. My washing machine only goes down to a 700 spin and am worried this might damage them. Some are very expensive and others M&S and Dunnes best but still...

    Any advice please.

I have thrown mine in on a cold handwash. It's not the best but it doesn't destroy them on a one off basis - I have the odd older one I've put in more than once and it does show the signs of it.

The more expensive they are, the less I'd be comfortable putting them in the machine. But as I say, none fell apart or looked damaged after the first machine wash. Put in 5 or so and see how you get on?

I handwash for about 2 weeks after buying then they get lumped in with everything else and it doent seem to do much damage. I always make sure there is a full load of washing to stop them banging about too much in the machine- I reshape the light padding when I take them out and they are grand!

Mine just get thrown in the machine with everything of a similar colour, it's never done any damage so far :D *touch wood*

I put mine on the delicate cycle (30 degrees) and use woolite. I put them in pillowcase or else a mesh wash bag in case the underwire comes out and gets trapped in the machine (it has happened!). If they've got fake tan or suncream marks I put them on a normal 40 degree wash, in the pillowcase/bag because the delicate wash just doesn't get stains out.

colors are fine to put in on a gentle/delicate cycle but i always always hand wash whites. i'm a 32e so my bras are expensive ( although since i've started getting them on figleaves.com much better value) and theres nothing worse imo then a gray looking strap on show:eek:vile!!

You can get a special washing bag in woodies for bras.
I always put mine in the washing machine & they are usually padded -some do get abit out of shape after a while, maybe try a delicate wash if you can

i got a bra ball. its a plastic ball that you can put in the washing machine and will keep your bras in the same shape. get it on line. its soo worth it.

Thanks everyone. Hopped them in the washing machine in 3 loads in a pillow case and they all seem fine. Will hand wash next time but it really saved me a lot of hassle this time.

Will look into the bra ball. Sounds like a great idea.
