I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm looking to buy Korean Won as I'm moving over in two weeks.

I'm looking to exchange my money so I'll have it when I get over there, rather than having to worry about it then.

Anyone know where in Dublin I can buy it, as it's not in any of the usual exchanges.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can buy it in Ireland. My sister has been living there now nearly 2 years and with all the visits my family have made to her they were never able to buy the currency before the left.

I'm going over myself in November and I plan on using my credit-card to buy the currency and for all other transactions.

Don't worry about it. When you get over here you can use an international atm card (check that yours has cirrus, maestro or another international symbol on it) with a lot of the ATMs. If you are arriving between 10:00pm and 6:00 am, you might have trouble as a lot of Korean atms close down during this period. From what I remember, the transaction fee will be about 2 euro a pop.

Alternatively you can use a credit card to get you through the first few days, no chip and pin here!

Currency conversion over here is also very doable. Most of the banks, certainly in the medium to large cities, will have an English speaking foreign exchange person, and if not, the average bank worker will know what you want to do if you show them a few hunderd euros in bank notes. If you go to change money, make sure you take your passport with you but DO NOT let them write in it.

Oh and PM me if you want any advice or have any questions before you come over.

Look at my current Location on the left side of the page.

Flights from Europe usually arrive in Korea between 10am and 2pm (KLM, Lufthansa, AirFrance). So you can just change your Euro for Won at the various Bureau de Change in Incheon Airport.

    Good luck on your trip.

Assuming your'e arriving at ICN Incheon Airport , keep over to the left in the Arrivals exit area and you wiil find ATMs just beside exit doors before you exit, Ive used Irish Visa and Maestro here a few times with no problem. They have english menu option available too.

    Enjoy your trip.
