Installing Win XP Home with Win XP Home SP3 Disk

    Hi Guys

Wondering if anyone can give me some tips. Fixing a PC for a friend, the HDD failed and he doesn't have recovery disks. But he does have a the legit XP sticker on the side of the machine. Problem is - I'm not sure which version of XP he's using.

Have tried a Win XP Home SP3 disc, but the key isn't accepted. Any ideas on what else I can do (failing getting my hands on the proper XP disc).

Also, how would I figure out what XP version it is from the sticker?

    Thanks!
