Hi just a query , I managed to loose my only key for a Volvo 80 , can I order a replacement set from an indie or do I have to go through a dealer. Got a quote for 500 from a dealer this am for 2 keys 300 for 1. Does insurance generally cover this. I also have to get the car to the dealer I am told, again this shuld be covered by breakdown assist to get me to a suitable garage.
    Any advice.

    hi,

I assume you are referring to an S80 ! sadly:( you will have to go to a dealer as the keys have to be programed to the car in the car via Vadis.

If you find another way i would be very interested in hearing it as my wife has only the one key for her S80 as well and i was thinking about taking a trip up north.

    regards

    brendan

Dont wanna hijack the thread but i've a set of BMW keys i found a while ago just lying there.

Would there be any way a BMW dealer would know who the owner is from the Key?

I cant find the owner. I've tried everything from adds online to physically walking around the estate i found them trying to open any BMW to find the owner.

They could find the reg number but would be unlikely to give it to you for fear of you stealing the car!
