I have tekken 3 running in my cab at the moment with all the required buttons working no prob.
However when i put in Final Fight the player 1 button doesnt work only player 2, same with Metal Slug in my mvs adapter.

There's no problem with it working when tekken 3 is plugged in and the pinout for the final fight and tekken game is the same regarding the player 1 button.

Im new to this, anyone able to help?

    Thanks

On the mvs go inot the test menu and check the inouts to see if its registering ,it coulb be a dip setting on the mvs etc or a loose connection!

I would think Tekken3 isn't exactly JAMMA standard so your loom is specifically for this board, you will need to either build an adapter for all your JAMMA Standard games or change your loom to JAMMA standard and build an adapter for Tekken3(I recommend the latter)

Are these the only 3 boards you have?

JAMMA Pinouts - trace your wires from the control panel back to the edge connecter and compare with the diagram below

    TEKKEN3 Manual
    see link http://www.mamext.net/manuali/tekken3c.pdf

If your still having trouble and your inDublin give us a shout and I'll have a look at it for you

Thank you guys for the help.

The tekken game is Jamma as far as i can see, it says jamma on the pcb and the pinout diagram that came with final fight looks the same too. The is of course the namco "kick harness" but that only deals with the two buttons out of the four for each player.

Just had a look at the wire for player one start and on my harness its wired to pin 17, as required by both tekken and final fight.
I also sent a help request to the company i got them from and they mentioned something to do with ground wires. When i get back to the house ill look at their suggestion better and give it a try.

Thank you for the offer Cathal, but i live in galway.....so if you're in galway anytime????

and for those interested in the cab i have: http://www.arcadeflyers.com/?page=flyer&db=videodb&id=4205&image=1
    Im minus the seats though!

Could very well be that not all grounds are connected and Tekken doesnt need them to be

Yes that seems to be the case. i connected a wire from player 2 buttons ground to the player 1 button and now the player 1 button works as it should, same with the mvs adapter.

i need to re-wire some buttons for the other games now, i should be able to that.
(The games I have now are: Tekken 3, Street Fighter 2, Final Fight and Metal Slug MVS)

Thank you so much for helping out!

Can anyone tell me whats dangerous and not when it comes to shocking myself? I'm looking for a complete beginners guide to not killing myself and making my cab my coffin. Everything from power supply, monitor, wiring buttons etc

I ask as i think im eventually going to have to rip out all the wiring and start a fresh, whoever had this last really didn't look after it too well. The coin acceptor for example is just ripped out!!! :(

    Thanks again!

Do not touch the monitor. Ever.

Stick to that one rule and you'll live ;)

Everything else just make sure it's plugged out when you're messing about with it.

dont touch it ANYWHERE? or just not on the anode?

As far as I know (from my very limited knowledge, I've never worked on a CRT), it's out the back of the flyback to the anode suction cup. Anywhere there is seriously dangerous.

The only reason you'd need to poke about with the monitor is if something is broken. If it's working well I'd just stay the hell away from all of it.

    Glad your sorted
Just the monitor, the anode cap from the flyback can kill when plugged in("usually" when plugged out most modern monitors wont carry a charge, some people will tell you differently so discharge if removing the monitor just to be on the safe side), the caps will give you a nasty shock even when unplugged. you'll be fine once you be carefull when making monitor tweaks.
Just be carefull not to short anything out on the jammaboards, connecting the 12v or 5v in the wrong place will destroy a jamma board very quickly(milliseconds)
