My stupid f*****g hair

    Hi,

    I hate my hair.

I like it above a certain length but it gets very very frizzy and uncontrollable to the afro point which isn't a great look. When I shower my hair when wet is fantastic and curly but 60 mins later no matter how I dry it it's back to afro.

Seeing as I have never used any hair product (bar gel when I was 9 for a few days) could you recommend a course of action and products to manage my hair? I have looked across the internet but advice is contradictory and whilst there is no lack of product for women there appears to be nothing for men.

    Thanks.

Although I'm not a bloke, I do have a very short hairstyle with naturally very curly/frizzy texture.
I shampoo and condition with any product that is anti frizz.
At the minute I'm using VO5 Silky Smoth Elixar.
Then I towel dry my hair a little and apply Umberto Giannini Seriously Straight Gloss Serum. Its amazing, even if I don't blow dry my hair it stops it from frizzing. However, blowdrying is, in itself, a good way to stop hair curling. Umberto Giannini do shampoo and conditioner in this range too, think they're expensive though.

My chap used to put a bit of sirum in his hair to kill the frizz. He used to have it longish and the sirum just made it look a lot neater. It was some sort of SP sirum, can't remember the name but I used to pick it up for him at the hairdressers'

I wouldn't heed that products aimed at men or women crap. Hair is hair. If frizz is the problem, you should try the 12 week blow dry. It won't straighten your curls but just take all the frizz out of it. I know its kinda expensive but just imagine 3-4 months of being able to just wash and go :D

I would also recommend the 12 week blow dry. I've had it done and it's brilliant. My hair went from being frizzy and brittle to sleek and easily managed--I don't even have to blow dry it any more and it still looks good. Downside-it's expensive.

I use a shampoo called redken smooth down......it's around 15 euro in peter marks, it's really good and weighs down your hair especially after a few washes, there is a conditioner to match but i wouldn't bother with that as i feel the shampoo does most of the work, you can just use any conditioner, I use pantene smooth and sleek,

I sometimes deep condition with coconut oil which you can get in any health shop, put it in dry hair overnight if possible and wash your hair the next day, it's hard to get all of the oil out so it weighs it down nicely and gives it a nice shine.

I have naturally straight hair which I have cut to encourage it to wave and the above are the types of things i use when I want a nice sleek look,
my boyfriend has short frizz prone hair and he noticed a big difference in his hair when he used the redken shampoo.....haven't persuaded him to use the coconut oil yet though......

I'd stay away from serum if you're not used to product in your hair, I hate the feel of it, and if the wind gets at your hair it seems to make it feel very dirty..well mine does anyway!

I may be a girl.. but my hair dilemmas seem to mirror yours. I swear by the Aussie range of shampoos and conditioner, designed specifically to tame frizz etc., really worth it especially if you're on a budget. They can be picked up for about 4 euros each and are often on special offer. They make a HUGE difference!
