Looks like it's confirmed so.. with filming starting later this year!

But a bit of a silly decision from Simon Bird (Will) - I personally don't think the film would work without him.

In my opinion, himself and James Buckley (Jay) are the stars of the show.
Simon Bird 'holds out on Inbetweeners film'

Simon Bird has reportedly refused to sign a contract to appear in the upcoming Inbetweeners film.

The actor - who plays Will McKenzie in the comedy series - is said to be holding out in the hope of receiving more money for the role.

However, Bwark Productions have planned to go ahead with the project without Bird, according to The Sun.

"The movie is definitely going ahead. It will start shooting in Malia, Crete later this month and then from November onwards," a source said.

"Simon's agents at Avalon won't accept the offer that Joe, James and Blake have all said they'd accept. So Bwark are moving on without Simon to pretty much call his agent's bluff. They sent out casting notes last week to show they are serious."

The insider added that Bird's plan may backfire if a better-known actor signs on to the role.

They added: "Simon's agents have always tried to push him as the star of the show and everyone's fed up with it. If some high-profile young actor won the role then Simon won't be in the film.

"Avalon will have to come crawling back to accept the offer. It's sad, but he has kind of shafted himself."

I honestly can't see the movie being made without him..

.. I mean the show is from his perspective. It'd just be silly if he wasn't in the movie.

As much as I enjoy the Inbetweeners, I feel a creeping sense of dread everytime there's a feature length spin off of a British sitcom set in a holiday resort :pac:

TBH i'd rather they didn't even make it without him & i really wanted to see this. Give him the money, I bet it'll be a smash in the UK & Ireland with the full cast.

The movie probably would have to take on a different format anyway like "The Hangover" maybe, i can't see him narrating each scene and each scene ending with that Arctic Monkey's song if its anywhere near the 2 hours mark!

Ugh, I don't imagine a feature-film will work particularly well anyway, but threatening to not have the same actor play the main character is pretty damn silly...

'Kevin and Perry Go Large' bringing back nasty memories?

I'd prefer if they leave it at three seasons with no movie to be honest. I have a real feeling that I'm gonna be disappointed with the upcoming season 3.

I could see an Inbetweeners movie working actually.

And of course they'll get Will back, this is a bluff.

It's unfounded, but I do tend to worry when a series is consistently good over a few seasons. I keep waiting for an sometimes-all-too-inevitable fall in quality..

.. the last season of 'The IT Crowd' was by-and-large very disappointing.

I am pretty sure whatever they come out with, will be, at the very least decent

I tend not to complain when shows of quality decide to bring out additional material, whatever the format

I believe he was referring to this.

    Not that there's other examples.

    He's such a movie snob. :p

Is there really enough there to make a feature length movie though?

I think the premise is they finish school and head off on a right-of-passage lads holiday.

People comparing to IT Crowd or Kevin & Perry, I'm not a fan of either anyway and i think Inbetweeners is one of the best new comedies to come along in years so I trust it will be good, as I said there has yet to be a single bad episode in 2 seasons.

Not exactly a sitcom, but this is the one that genuinely made me say 'FFS' out loud when I saw the DVD.

    Those working class British, ey?

No suprise but an update to the original post..
Simon Bird 'agrees to Inbetweeners film'

Simon Bird has signed up to appear in the forthcoming Inbetweeners film, it has been revealed.

Bird, who was rumoured to be holding out to secure more money for the role, has begun filming in Malia, Crete this week, reports The Sun.

The 26-year-old is said to have accepted the role after programme makers Young Bwark Productions failed to meet his pay demands and put out a casting call for another actor to play the part of Will McKenzie.

A source said: "The original cast are all back together for the Inbetweeners film and have started work on the movie over in Crete.

"Simon is back on board and everyone's happy. He had to come back with his tail between his legs when the producers refused to bend over and concede his demands.

"As soon as the call went out for another actor, he decided to do it. Luckily for him, there was still lots of good will on the set and he is brilliant at the part."

The show's co-creator Iain Morris recently rubbished suggestions that there was any dispute between Bird and producers.

The Inbetweeners film will focus on Will's summer holiday abroad with friends Jay, Simon and Neil. Filming in London begins in November.
