Was out doing a bit of lamping tonight with a mate of mine. Shone the lamp over a gate and spotted a fox bout 300 yds away, I gave it a squeak and it came running up the hill like a train, gave a little bark at 50yds and it stopped still and fell to my mates .17HMR.

Gave another few squeaks and 2 foxes came running from the left bout 100 yds out, another squeak and one of them stops and turns sideways, runs 30 yds towards us and again fell to the might of the HMR :D

3rd fox has stood stock still waiting to be drilled when my mate manages to knock out his magazine on the ground !! so I slipped the lurcher who deftly took charlie down with a quick shake of the neck !!

3 foxes in one minute and we hadnt even walked into a field yet :)

I was out calling for around 20 mins before dark tonight.
No result, although I am perfecting the caller I was given by an old boy recently.

I need a good lamp man;)
I used to be a great lamper before I had a rifle, I was lamping for the whole parish.

I may charge up the batteries and get the lightforce 170 back in action, in 2 weeks deer will be in and I will dedicate my free time to them

but 2 weeks is a long time lol

If me and my mate are out together i generally always end up on the lamp, for 2 main reasons :

1 - I'm better at calling than he is
and 2 - I got my lurcher as back up :D

Called in a fox from bout 400 upto 30 yds for him one night, and CLICK, empty chamber , slipped the doh who took it down just before it hit the ditch

I find a team of two works well, I used to alternate lamping/shooting with my mate.

he got married and that was the end of the lamping :D

I'm reasonably good at calling, just not got the patience to wait.

only for about 15 years:rolleyes: then either the allure of the woman wears off or he decides he no longer g.a.s about the complaining and starts going out again ;)

Yes gate was at the end of long private lane behind ruin of an old house :) I'm not a drive-by lamper ;)

nice one lad.its great when you get three in the one night and even better when you get your lurcher to do what he is bred for.
so tell us,what cross of lurcher do you use for a bit of foxing.
