A quick question for someone from a Pharmacy background : I need to obtain some '' Rubbing Alcohol '' ( remove mildew from a leather jacket ). Do pharmacies stock this ? It is possibly an American name for Meths ?

    We call it Isopropyl Alcohol.
You might find it in a pharmacy, but you'd have to try a few.

If any of your friends work in science they'll have buckets of it too. Most labs use IPA. There is another name for it but my chemistry is rusty... 2-Propanol?

We have it in ours anyway so it can be gotten. Any pharmacy should be able to order it in for you no problem.

Also called propan-2-ol, indicating that the OH or hydroxyl group is attached to the second carbon in the three carbon chain. Known as a secondary alcohol.
