Is anybody listening to this grade A arsehole on TV3 tonight? He's presenting Vincent Browne's show.

What the hell is a "notorious rapist" - is this to distinguish him from the "nice rapist" the "kind rapist" the "charming rapist"?

"evil killers"- and they are in contrast to the "nice killers"?

"vicious thugs" - and they are in contrast to the nice cuddly bring-them-home-to-Mammy thugs?

And so on. What the hell? Has the tabloid rag which he edits (the Oirish Daily Star) taken over mainstream Irish television in the form of TV3? Allowing this unqualified moron on our television screen to host a supposedly serious current affairs programme is seriously patronising dim shít from TV3. And that's saying something.

Some of your might remember this Colleran shítehawk as the one who attacked Gerald Kean on Matt Cooper's show last January screaming "I'm not going to talk to a convicted criminal"(listen here at 3.00min). (previous discussion here)

    /rant over.

Obviously the English language is a bit of a shock for you Dionysus ;)

It is called a descriptive noun & it's not a matter of black or white it's
    a matter of description.

Vicious Thugs, Malicious Thugs, Foolish Thugs etc...

    Notorious defn:

Known widely and usually unfavorably; infamous: a notorious gangster; a district notorious for vice

    Notourious - having Notouriety

Most rapists are not as well publicised as this man, therefore not holding the aforementioned notouriety

So tell me OP, what's a rabble-rousing scumbag as opposed to an ordinary scumbag?

I'd be far from Colleran's biggest fan but at least he speaks forthrightly. He does of course speak in tabloid talk but sometimes we actually want the tabloid talk because, it may be bias but it's bias in the right direction.

I think he speaks well & with a great degree of clarity. But then again, maybe Im just used to listening to Vincent Browne.

TV3 has always been tabloid TV.. right from the very first day it aired..

Sounds to me like the OP is trying to rouse a rabble of his own.

Which only leaves one question remaining... who honestly gives a flying f*ck what Ger Colleran, TV3 or The Star ever have to say?

Apart from the OP, that is.

A serious case of rabbling in the wind, methinks.

    That was hilarious by Colleran.

Number one moment for me on Matt Coopers show though is still Eoghan Harris storming off from Fintan O'Toole. Can't find that clip anywhere though.

an ordinary one isn't on TV trying to rouse the rest of the rabble?

Leave dionysus alone! Obviously he meant that the fellow attributes adjectives tautologically. He's saying all thugs are vicious, and that killers are by definition evil. In general whether or not he is correct depends on the attributes one already attaches to these other things, but cut the fellow some slack. For example, if you think killing people is evil, which most people would (or bad or something) then it is indeed unnecessary to describe "killers" as such.

    thug |θʌg|
    noun
1 a violent person, esp. a criminal. [ORIGIN: mid 19th cent.: extension of sense 2 .]
2 ( Thug) historical a member of a religious organization of robbers and assassins in India. Devotees of the goddess Kali, the Thugs waylaid and strangled their victims, usually travelers, in a ritually prescribed manner. They were suppressed by the British in the 1830s.

Even his point about the vicious thugs wasn't far off.

    vicious |ˌvɪʃəs|
    adjective
1 deliberately cruel or violent : a vicious assault.
    • (of an animal) wild and dangerous to people.
    • figurative serious or dangerous : a vicious flu bug.
    • poetic/literary immoral : every soul on earth, virtuous or vicious, shall perish.
2 archaic (of language or a line of reasoning) imperfect; defective.
