    Hey guys.

Did a track recently which I think could sound good with some raps on top.

    Heres the track:

If any of you good Irish MCs (you know who you are) fancy spittin on it, please let me know, and I'll hook you up with the wav, or if you like you could send me your raps and I'll mix it in myself.

Try irishhiphop.com/forum for more rappers. Getting people to collaborate ain't easy though. Lots of beats and producers out there and every emcee has their particular tastes.

I'm not a producer so I'd have trouble picking that apart in a technical fashion. Sounds like you've used a few slightly cheesy pre-sets. Most people either want slick, synthy beats or more organic dusty sampled stuff. I've also got a personal massive dislike for the use of midi cymbals in any music.

I know a couple of producers who got pissed off waiting for people to rap on their beats so they just took up rapping themselves. Could always have a lash. It's quite fun.

Hey Shapey. Thanks for the reply.

I wanted to post here first because to be honest, I like the good vibes on boards.ie. If nobody bites here, I'll head over to irishhiphop.com

Most of the track was made from samples of an old record I chopped.
I didn't use any presets. The bass is a synth I programmed from scratch, as is the synth that comes in later. (maybe it is a bit cheesy, but I like it)

I'm not sure what you mean about the cymbals. All the beats are constructed from samples from different records. Midi doesn't make any noise in itself, so maybe you're talking about the ride cymbal, which probably gets a bit samey.

I usually do more trippy vibey stuff (ala Flying Lotus, Nosaj Thing etc). This was an attempt to do something more accessible.

    Cheers.

PS - Not a hope of getting me to rap:D

I don't really know what I'm talking about haha. Not much happens on here from the point of making music, or everybody whos on here is much more active on the other forum. Generally a very friendly place but everybody takes the piss constantly so it can be slightly disorientating for newcomers.

Fecking love my Flying Lotus stuff. Was going to use of the beats off his July Heat mixtape last time but I couldn't get it to sound right.

Man, people who aren't "production savvy" are the best people to get feedback from, and I appreciate your honesty.

Kool, cheers. I've posted the track over on IHH

Nice beat, but i dont think that you should go the route of getting someone to spit on it. I think you should get a scratch DJ to do cuts over it.

I think that it would take one of the more talented MC's out there to ride over the beat, there are some points where it is nearly acapella so someone with a really strong voice would be needed.
