    hi everyone

recently returned from holiday and left my passport in my pants pocket and put it in the washer. it has dried out and looks fine, just a little crinkly. the main page with my photo etc is perfect as its covered with some kind of film

do ye think it should be ok for future travel and especially to the states?

If in doubt, get it replaced. Especially when travelling to the USA - where they can be very particular.

Same thing happened to me a few years ago - the cover looked a bit dodge after the auld spin cycle but the photo page (with all the info) was fine.

Contrary to getting a new passport... I just bought one of those passport covers (you can now buy them in Euro shop on Georges Street). I've been all over the world with it... no bother at all. As the poster above says, the only slight problem I've ever had was when going to the states... but it wasn't because of the state of my passport... it was because I had a passport cover on it (they don't like that for some reason!). So, I took it off... and everything went smoothly.

At the end of the day, if you were dodge:cool:... a brand spanking new passport is going to look more suss than a... well, a more 'lived in' passport.:p

My dog had a good old chew on my husbands brand new passport last year, the cover had bite marks but the main page was fine. Like Dodge, I bought a passport cover for when we were going to the states and was told to remove it before going through the passport check. They had no problem with the state ot the passport at all. I think once the photo page is fine and it still scans ok you should be fine.
