If I love Friday Night Lights what else will I like ?

    I've only recently discovered Friday Night Lights and I think it's one of the best,if not the best, TV series I've ever watched. I can't believe it's never had much of an impact on this side of the atlantic. If you haven't seen it you are missing out!

    Anyway I'm fast approaching the end of the last available series and I'm already having withdrawl symptoms. I was wondering if anyone who has liked Friday Night Lights has got any recommendations for something similar to it?

    Nothing similar to it really. Most other shows that cover the same ground just come across as cliched and unrealistic.

    Veronica Mars is great. Some really good emotioal moments and cracking storylines. You do have to put up with some rubbish actors for some of it though but this is balanced out by some great performances. Particularly Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring and Enrico Colantoni.

    I can't believe I never bothered watching Veronica Mars then. I thought it was a Buffy the Vampire Slayer-esque show for some reason.:(
    I'll look out for it now though.

    I read that the FNL writers had also made Parenthood which debuted this year. It a good show but it's just not a patch on FNL.
    If anyone else has any suggestions please tell :)

    Yeah, unfortunately there's nothing else quite like Friday Night Lights.

    I would say Veronica Mars is more similar to BtVS than Friday Night Lights but I would still recommend checking it out.

    I'm a big fan of all 3 shows.

    i like FNL and also stuff like supernatural, entourage, modern family, parks and recreation, oz, mad men, dexter, breaking bad, true blood, men of a certain age but there ain't a lot out there like it

    It's not realy similar to FNL

    However, Playmakers is pretty good.
    It only lasted one season until ESPN came under pressure to shut it down, a bit controversial

    Only other football series I can think of

    Worth watching
