i may well be wrong in posting here, but i did not know where else to put it.
whats the deal with a bride going to the sea in her wedding dress and jumping in. I have seen it in a lot of photos. is it an old tradition or a new one? does it have any meaning?

It's called a 'trash the dress' shoot.

It's an American 'thing' to break away from the boredom of a generic wedding, I wouldn't really call it a tradition yet. It's usually done when the couple return from their honeymoon, and all the hubbub has settled.

I think the OP is talking about when couples pose 'frolicing' and paddling in the sea during the actual wedding photographs. I haven't actually been at a wedding where this has happened but have seen it in magazines and photographers windows. I have no idea why people do it. I suspect they are trying to get a candid or 'zany' shot when in fact it just looks daft.

My cousin got married abroad and some of her photos were of her and the groom lying in the sand, this to me is even more crazy, imagine the state of her dress afterwards. I know it's to be expected that your wedding dress gets a bit soiled throughout the day, but I really can't understand why you would want to get manky before you even have dinner!
