No internet on my iphone

I've had the iphone now for several months and am unable to get the internet on it. It says, could not activate cellular network. I spoke to a vodafone operator (eventually) and he told me I had to change the sim card from 64 g to a 128. I went to the vodafone shop in Galway where they changed the card for me, but then she could not activate the internet on the iphone as she was on the phone to vodafone. They eventually said the phone would have to be returned for at least 4 days as it was a setting they needed to change. Does anyone here know what might be wrong?? I have access through wi-fi at home but anywhere else is a bummer! Thanks.

Make sure in Setting -> General-> network-> Cellular data is set to on.
You might also need to change apn, if you could post what Apn is shows there?

Howdy. It just says enable 3g on
    Cellular data on
    Set up internet tethering.
    Data roaming off
    vpn not connected
    Wi-fi not connected

Then i presume you need to update the carrier setting , connect your iphone to itunes and sync and it should give you a option for carrier update, Click on update and see if that works.

Did that, no good. It says the internet connection appears to be offline.
