    Hi guys,

I'm wondering if you know of any sites/e-zines that are open to interviewing new authors such as myself? If so, can you please give me their names as I want to promote my upcoming debut young adult fantasy novel.

Thanks for reading this message and I look forward to hearing from you.

If you search the forum for "zine" or the like there are two or three regular contributors here who run online magazines who might be interested. Otherwise, would you be interested in answering questions from forum members here?

Thanks Pickarooney. I'll do just that and yeah, when my book is out I'd love to take questions from forum members but wouldn't that come under advertising and isn't that disallowed here?

Thanks for getting back to me, though.

It's not advertising if we ask you :) What's it called and when is it due out?

Oh, okay. I just didn't want to break the rules. The book is called, The Zargothian Tales: Return of the Son of Hamorin. It's a young adult fantasy novel. I have a website dedicated to it where people can view a sample chapter and/or pre-order a copy. Here's the link: www.thezargothiantales.com Please note that the website is under construction.

My novel, which will be released as an ebook, will be out sometime in the autumn, possibly the end of September. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Ah yes, I remember reading this before. Good stuff :)

I guess the question most people will want to ask is how you went about getting a publisher (It's an American publisher, right?), via an agent or directly.

Well, I contacted them the same way as I did all other publishers and just sent a query along with the three chapters and synopsis. They liked it and the rest is history. I did manage to do this without the aid of a literary agent. Then I began wondering if I needed an agent or not and some told me to get one and others said not to since I managed to bag a publisher by myself. After much deliberation and reading articles in certain books on the subject, I decided to approach a few and earlier this week, an American agent whom I had queried in June, requested to see my entire manuscript, so I guess I'll have to wait and see what he says. He was very enthusiastic about it, though.

Good to see that it can be done on your own :)
How many publishers did you approach and (if you didn't succeed first time) did you wait for a rejection letter before trying another?

I presume the agent is involved for your next book? Is it a continuation on this one?

I am not too sure how many publishers I approached but I did receive 75 to 80 rejections and that was from both publishers and agents prior to WordTechs Press publishing my book in ebook format.

Yes, there will be a continuation from this book. It's a trilogy (three-book series) so I just hope that people will like, and more importantly, buy the first book. I uploaded the first full chapter yesterday and updated a few sections of the site. Click here the to see the first chapter in its entirety. Please feel free to leave a comment or ask any other question.

    Thanks again.
