electric window issue

    I have a nissan serena 98 reg and yesterday the passenger side window scrolled down ok but wont go back up.

    took door apart to see all connections were ok and motor for window would try to wind down bu thats where it ended.

    anybody got any ideas please apart from bring it to an expensive mechanic

    Sounds like the motor is broken, take the motor with you to your local scrapyard, have a root room check a few crashed Nissans,

    Micras and Almera will probably have the same motor.
    If no joy take it ot Nissan and they should have a new replacement part.

    did you try both switches (ie the one on the drivers door as well as the one on the drivers door?)
    for diagnosis if possible swap the wires on the back of the switch cluster on the drivers door over so the right switch controls the left motor
    also be aware if there are two switches (one on each front door) that one switch could be jammed in the down position overruling the up message from the other. eliminate this by disconnecting the one on the passenger door.
    Its always worth a try to do this before replacing expensive parts.

    also you could try separating the motor from the window regulator and seeing if the motor will run in both directions.
    If it wont and you are certain the switch is OK then its down to wiring....the most likley place being where the wires run to the door from the A pillar
