    No great surprise to hear about this as it's been coming down the line for a while now. Hopefully it will be used as a tool that's part of the diagnosis, rather than something that's definitive on its own.

    Here's a slight tangent, but it's another good example of puncturing the bubble of statistical certainty with humour (I think this was posted by someone else previously)

    Is there any way of being tested to see if you carry the Autism gene? I have a brother and two cousins with Autism which means that there's a very high incidence of Autism in my male relations.

    I'm not sure a specific Autism gene has been fully identified as of yet, maybe a cluster has been. I'm not fully up on the research, but I don't think we're there yet with the test you're after. It can run in families, though.
