You cannot shoot from a moving boat! Nothing to do with oars or engins!

Does that include drifting with the wind/current? Must you be moored or anchored?

must be moored or ancored, no weed hopping, we just pull into rushes have brackets on side of boat to take poles for camo net, motorized wing spinning mallard and bobs your uncle and ,,,,,, your aunt.

My understanding was a mechanically propelled boat, ie if you were out on the open sea you could shoot seals with a special licence.

I only ever knew of one man that shot seals so and he is dead since so i can't ask him.

Not much seals around the midlands.

Lord 2 weeks and Duck and Deer in season!
I'm all ready for duck, better get my ass in gear and get some ammo for deer

Shooting seals?? I suppose it's closer to topic than him talking about turf robbery when disposing dud ammo!

Seriously tack u seem to just posting for the sake of it lately, some of your posts have no relevance and your giving badly informed advice. Then you spend pages of posts trying to talk your way out of it??and then those who challenge you are given out to.

Stop thinking about your post and view counts on threads and worry about giving meaningful advice..

Just thought it needed to be said.

i cant comment on the legalities of shooting from a boat but i can however tell you that 18 years ago 3 very experienced shooters from my town drowned on xmas eve shooting duck from a boat, ive since been advised by lads not to shoot duck from a boat because no matter how safe you are, you cant be sure the lad next to ya wont jump up to take a shot thus tipping yas both out. just what ive been told. dont mean to rain on the parade.;)

Many's a Shotty at the bottom of Lough ree for similar reason.
we dropped Ancor off hare island and we dropped 120ft of anchor before it hit the bottom

I was on a boat on the shannon and the Suck in my younger days. The Shannon in winter can be a cruel mistress if the wind picks up.
    A cold water grave.

Although the bank can be just as dangerous as waders can keep you down if you fall over.

deffo want always to be extremely careful on our waterways, I know of a few who drowned, swimming or fishing on these lakes and got into difficulties, a major thing to watch out for is going across fields and the outboard hitting fences.

Some parts of the shannon basin are hard to define where the shannon ends and the land begins in winter
