Theres 7 categorys of drivers on that site eg keyboard, mouse driver, bios has 3 drivers etc,Download it,its free, use backup ALL Drivers,to my drivers folder, copy, burn em to a cdr disk.
See http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax/,,also copy folder and drivermax download, to c:\ new folder.
Then reinstall windows, run, install drivermax, use import, driver function ,to reinstall any drivers that windows install misses.Use install,no format, use existing media, when installing windows 7.
THERES LIKE 20 drivers in that list,eg 3 for the bios alone.
also copy drivers to a usb key/drive.

I have downloaded to drivers I need, they are some drivers for the network that don't seem applicable to me. I was planning on saving them to a CD and then install them after I install windows.

i use drivermax,it backs up all drivers, saves time, and it installs them too, murphys law theres always 1 or 2 drivers missing after an install.
my thinkpad has like 70 drivers listed on the ibm website.
even if you have the drivers on a cd its still hard to install one by one ,using device manager.
drivermax takes ,2 minutes to install, 4mins to backup all drivers.

ok but will it back up drivers for programs aswell, such as Adobe?

It backups the device driver, for audio, network, motherboard, wifi, graphics etc
HARDWARE devices ,components, bios, usb etc if you wanna backup programs, install use a clone drive program, like here http://www.todo-backup.com/

but if you restore the backup, you,ll wipe out the new windows 7 installation.
if driver x is missing device x won,t run ,or be ususable eg usb ports.
after windows 7 install ,you have to re install all programs ,apps, antivirus etc usually from the install
    cds or net download.

I only want the actual laptop drivers, the program stuff isn't important as i have all the programs on disk

So the method your suggesting will only back up laptop drivers which are the important ones yeah?

yeah,it backs up ALL the device drivers ,to a folder, my drivers, folder size 20meg approx.i copy em to 2 cdrs, cdr cost =30cent .drivermax does not backup programs at all.copy my drivers to c:\ new folder, makes it easy to find if you want to reinstall windows.do not format the drive ,during reinstall, copy to cdr be4 you do installation process.

Why should i not format the drive?

Copy the mydrivers folder, drivers to a cdr or usb driver.
check the cdr ,make sure files are there,eg keyboard, usb, motherboard drivers.
IF YOU REALLY WANT to format the drive, in my opinion ,its easier to not format the drive, cos you have all the drivers, on the drive in ,my drivers folder,
You can install windows 7 in the old directory, c:\ windows, therefore no space is wasted,it deletes the old windows install.
you might wanna copy, your photos,mp3s, to c:\backup 1 before you install ,or copy em to a dvdr,or cdr disk s.
have two copys of my drivers folder,in 2 places,or 2cdrs, be4 you format the drive.
