IMO the Polo would be a far better car in nearly every respect bar price. What kind of deals have you been offered?

If it was my money then neither of those two ...but since you've asked it would have to be a Polo. Hyundai i20s are thrashy , ugly , plasticky Korean mush amd they aren't cheap. Clio / Yaris / Corsa are all better and cheaper.

+1 Clio is much better value, and in diesel form is a great car.

Stay away from Hyundai. The residuals are very poor and they are just not good cars in general. The polo is well worth the extra money.

I took an i20 on a test drive recently, as it had great spec for the price. Sadly, had to walk away and go for something else - the 1.2 just has no power.

They are all under powered, especially the diesels.I have looked at them all and the most powerful for under 17k is the clio with 86bhp, thats awful.Skoda had a 1.9tdi Fabia's out since 01 with 100bhp.In the Uk they have an excellent choice of engines.Mazda 2's and Fiesta's with 110bhp 1.6tdci and we get the 75bhp 1.4tdci, same with Renault and so on:o

I would say if your looking for a small car under the scrappage scheme, The two cars at the minute which offer the best value are either the Clio or Yaris, With a 5 door Yaris has a list price cheaper than a 5DR Clio.

If your after a Diesel have a look at the 1.4 D4D Yaris 90BHP

If your interested in a Yaris send me a PM ;)
