    Hi,

Got my theory test out of the way and it says on my cert that its for category AM. All I can see on the govt websites relates to categories A, A1 or M...Any advice as to what the AM actually relates to? I presume I can ride anything with a power-weight ratio of less than 0.16kW/kg?

    Many Thanks

    M is mopeds right?

I assume that passing the test enables to you apply for an A, A1 or M licence, hence the AM bit.

    Correct,

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/travel-and-recreation/motoring-1/driving-tests/driver_theory_test/#introduction

There appears to be 4 different theory tests available.

Once again http://www.citizensinformation.ie to the rescue, they really need to advertise this site some more.

You did the right theory test - it covers you for A, A1 and M licenses. You'll be restricted on your learner permit to 33Bhp / 25kW, and/or 0.16kW/kg on your A category (I assume that's what you're going for?).

This always confuses me. Do I have to get an A1 first or can I go straght for an A?
