I think i know the thing you're talking about-i remember seeing an ad on the tv for it when it came out. It's not a pill, it's a soluble thing like Alka Seltzer though is it not-Lifeline or something.

Or am i thinking of something totally different?!

You can still get them things i'm on about, you'd see them in the chemists

I'd be worried about a tablet called afterlife
    Sounds like something for euthanasia.

Good post here from another poster, they work in the medical area

I have read the product info and sorry to say, there is nothing in it that really will work.

They have some "evidence" on there website that it works, however it is from a small study of 36 individuals, self reporting there hangover symptoms. I would say if they did a randomised controlled trail no difference would be seen.

As for the exact details of the products?

Activated carbon: they suggest that this will absorb the alcohol and thus reduce alcohol similar to the way activated charcoal is used for some people with drug overdoses. However the amount in 2 tiny capsules would be so tiny that the effect would be negligible.

Vitamins B and C: unless you are malnourished these are not gonna have any effect acutely.

Calcium carbonate: hay have indeed a specific effect to reduce indigestion from alcohol induced gastritis.

Conclusion? product doesnt really contain much that I can see would prevent a hangover any better than a few glasses of water before you go to sleep or interspersed with your drinks.

The only sure fire way to prevent a hangover? Sorry to say it but drink in moderation!

Yeh! They are called Anti Booze tablets.

Hope that's the answer to your question...

The instructions on them say to have a pint of water for every measure of alcohol.

Which basically mean you have to drink 1 pint or water after even 1/2 pint of beer.........

They are snack-oil, better off just drinking and take the hangover like a Real Man.....

Dissolve one tablet of moderation in some freshly squeezed know-your-limit juice.

The point of the activated carbon is not to absorb the alcohol, it is to absorb the congeners and other chemicals specific to non-vodka drinks. They even state on the lifeline website that it won't make much difference to a vodka hangover.

The few times I've gotten drunk entirely off beer I've gotten hangovers so bad i needed to throw up the next morning. Even just keeping down the water needed to rehydrate myself was a serious effort. I can see how someone would be driven to taking painkillers (and adding further strain to their already over-worked livers) :(.

When I get this drunk off vodka I'm fine after a pint of water, still have that vague hungover feeling, but nothing like with other drinks (beer is actually one of the better drinks, better than cider and wine).

RU 21'S are great but have to be taking after every couple of beers.

Work well though, can be got in boots. Developed by the russians during the cold war...

they're called lifeline, and you can get them in most chemists. think you take it with your first drink.

tried them once or twice but wouldn't say they're any better than a pint or two of water just before bed!

    Solution:
Lots of lemon juice (diluted in hot water) before going to bed. The more the better.

A potent mix of valium and morphine will soon have ya right.

Might kill you either, best just not drink too much the day before.

I know of an anti-Hangover tonic.

    Water.

Just read the bottle and drink it instead of Alcohol and 100% next morning no hangover.
