I try and add my API (Advance passenger information) for my flight to spain tomorrow and get this :

It is not possible to add your advance passenger information to this booking.

What is this scam anyway ? they want people to miss their flights so theyll need to pay ridiculous change fees ??

No scam, it was introduced a few years ago by the Spanish government and applies to all visitors from non-schengen states.

Just arrive early and submit your details in the airport. Unless it's ryanair. I think it must be done online for them, check your airline's website for details of alternative means to submit your API

Mmmm... According to the Ryanair website the info needed is collected automatically when you check in online. Makes sense as you have to give your passport details in order to check in.

If you've flown with Ryanair you would never have to supply it as you they use all the required info when you check in on-line but Aer Lingus is a different kettle of fish.

Always fly Aer Lingus , and today no problem, they must add it automatically too ...

I'm flying with both Aer Lingus and Ryanair in next month. Do I need do submit any info to either airline before online check-in? Is it defo OK to give API on checkin only?

In the past (going to UK) I have had to add it separately and at least a day before the flight - but i got plenty of warning via emails ...

Try and add the API on the airlines webpage under "MAnage Booking" or similar, if it doesn't let you , you probably are allready added.

In Europe API is only required for travel to Spain. It is not required for travel to the UK. (yet)

hmm this is confusing, I needed to give API for a flight to the UK from Ireland a few years back + a flight from Spain this October.

I never have had to give API for flights to Spain - maybe cos im resident ??

    dunno ...
