Not sure of a poem but our best man finished with something like this, looking at everyone here in this room I can tell there is a lot of love in this room, some people who have been together many, many years, and if all of you could just send a little bit of that love up here to bride and groom Im sure theyll have a very happy life together. I thought it was a nice little touch to finish off with, the rest of the speech was hilarious and just that little bit brought tears to my eyes, it was lovely.

Don't know any poems or blessings but I've been to a good few weddings this year, and here's a few tips for the speech:

Write it down - not necessarily every word, but have notes because otherwise you could get flustered and forget.
Don't swear - was at one wedding where every second word out of the best man's mouth was f***, very crass, and it's still being talked about by the guests.
Don't mention exes of the bride or groom - it's just bad form.
Go easy on the grog until after the dinner - making the speech will be all the more difficult if half creased.
Keep it clean(ish) - if you're telling stories of the groom's wild youth, remember his parents will be sitting there, as well as his family and new wife. There are probably things he doesn't want them all to know ;)

not quite a poem but heard this from a best mans speech recently:

in making his final toast he said

to the bride & groom & their journey of the three rings,

    first the engagement ring
    then the wedding rind
    & now for the suffeRING

he finished off by wishing them well - it was hilarious & went down really well - you'll just have to judge your audience beforehand

    Good luck
