Hi all, maybe this has been covered before but i am having trouble with my free to air satelite dish. Every time we get a heavy mist or miminmal amounts of rain (very very light) the dish starts to lose signal and picture and sound rapidly deteriorates. Receiver and dish are from Lidl and i am very happy with the range of channels etc. I have changed position of the dish a few times just very slightly but problem reoccurs and its beginning to drive me mad at this stage lol..
Any help would be much appreciated

Dish is too small or mis-aligned.

    Alignment includes
    East/West
    Up/down
    LNB skew angle.

    Assuming good quality dish
Dish wants to be 50cm to 60cm in East to Midlands.
65cm to 80cm at extreme SW, NW and Extreme parts of West.

The Lidl dishes and brackets are poor.

I'd agree thats why i never put up the lidl dish when i purchased the package (sorry should have said this already) i opted for one 3 times bigger so size should'nt be the issue

What % of signal quality are you getting according to the box ? You should have it set up to the max % you can receive so to allow for deterioration on rainy days. It shouldnt matter when it rains if its set up right. When you do that lock it down tight. We do get a lot of rain after all.

Its 28.2 you have it pointed at ?

The Lidl brackets are crap from what I've seen, but my 80cm dish is working fine without any problems. Watty's post is spot on. Here's a more comprehensive guide on what to do: http://bytelive.com/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=How+to+align+a+satellite+dish

And of course a search on boards or google can help with anything you're stuck on.

If the dish looks like it's not much bigger than a foot in diameter, I'd bin it and look for a new one. Here's an example of a good value dish and bracket you can get: http://www.satellite.ie/acatalog/60cm_Dish___suitable_for_sky_and_BBC_free_to_view_.html
