Everest Base Camp versus 8 days in Nepal

    Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone has done a trek to Everest Base camp. We have about 8 days, and we're thinking of doing it, but I can't help worrying that we'd be better off spending those 8 days seeing Nepal.

I might be wrong, but the Everest Base Camp thing, although probably good, sounds like a lot of trekking just to say you've been to Everest.

    Any opinions welcome.

You can't even make it to EBC in 8 days, never mind return. Not in any safe manner anyway.

Head to Pokhara and do a trek from there instead

Go to the Last resort down by the Tibetan border, it was amazing. We got transfers from Katamandu. Pokhara is well worth a visit but by bus will take you 9 or more hours which is almost two days of travelling.

8 days in Nepal is really 6 since you'll be either entering or leaving on two of the days. That's not nearly enough time to do any trekking, let alone EBC.
