I think this guy was an Institution, and deserved - maybe even more so then Sir Bob Geldof - to have a street named after him. Check it out - at 0.32 - the head movement and the unusual and calm way in which he recognized (on the behalf of KPMG) that this draw was taking place.

He was cool, calm and collected, and his silence provided many laughs throughout the years. Plus, he got more viewers then Fair City and TG4 combined

Why do you think they dropped this from the Irish Lotto anyway?

Sir Bob Geldolf changed his first name to 'Sir' to make everyone think he'd gotten a knighthood.

    True story.

Why do you think they dropped this from the Irish Lotto anyway?

Well, I'll quote myself, it turns out his name is Alex Burns

As of October 2002, the Irish Times reported that "KPMG accountant and regular Lotto draw supervisor Alex Burns has 87208 shares, held since the 1970s" about his shares held in Bank of Ireland...interesting, as in January of the same year, it mentioned his name as being someone expected to replace their then chairman Don Reid.

In 2006 he was described as a former Senior Partner in KPMG by an Editorial from Church and State. It seems he was also linked with The National Development Corporation Limited and Norwich Insurance and Wessel Industries. He was chairman of both companies and held stock in the Irish Times since the early 1970s.
The National Development Corporation (NDC), an economic development organization, was established as a statutory corporation by an Act of Parliament in 1962. The purpose of NDC is to initiate, develop and guide the implementation of economically viable projects in partnership with the private sector.

In any case, seems that Burns jumped ship at the right time, as Bearing Point...the company KPMG became....or sort of broke off to become, went bankrupt in 2009.

Despite the draws being regulated by KPMG Independently, as verified today, the company no longer exsists in Ireland, and is an English based company - http://rd.kpmg.co.uk/

So that means the Irish Lotto is being verified by a UK company and the Government are spending more tax payers money on a UK based company to fund what should be an in house job.
We support businesses throughout their lifecycle as they restructure and expand, whether organically or by acquisition. We help them to become more efficient and provide support as they adapt to demanding regulatory environments.

KPMG creates unique propositions that help solve clients' current needs while providing insight into the future challenges that they may face. We are committed to exceeding the expectations of our clients and supporting them as they grow.

Increasing the game by 3 numbers?

Surely there is an Irish company that does this? Does the Lotto even need this?! How do you support the Lotto!
