Even though it is a car that's MORE than welcome in this forum, I reckon the General Motors section will hold a lot more answers than in Modified Cars.

    Hope ya'll don't mind Mods

We quarrel about this all the time in the classic cars forum :D

What is classic is a bit of a personal thing, but there are some facts too.

From a VRT (and indeed VAT point of view if you import a car from outside the EU), a car is not classic until it is over 30 years old.

From an insurance point of view, some cars are classics as young as 15 years old, some not until they are 20, 25 or even 30 years old. It depends on the insurance company and on the car. I'd be confident you'd have a good chance you can get a 300ZX twin turbo on classic insurance, but most likely only if you have another car as your first car and only if you are over 25. Have a look at the charter and the stickies in the classic car forum (click on the link under my username) and you will find lots of useful information

MG's of any age in britain can be insured as a classic car.

I got laughed at when I rang up asking if the same applied in Ireland.

    :(

It's 30 years. So another 10 to go.
But that is for motor tax, flat rate of 40 Euro or thereabouts a year.
    Dunno how that affects imports.
