Man with a Lenson Heath one metre off set dish and time on his hands wondering if its worth his while pointing it at the sky to view anything?
Forget sport,or spending too much money after the LNB cable.
Recently moved from Terestial boards after loseing the will to live..

How does one subscribe to European channels legally from Ireland and UK?,Movies sound good if the language is English,Sky seem to charge double for Movies compared to European channels, then they sometimes have "Half Price "offers, and generally I might watch one of their movies a month.
Maybe I' just too hard to please.
Do we tech types sometimes start from the wrong end and think about content when we find there isn't any?

This is the pacakge mentioned above. Its prepay for 12 months for 160e delivered. Movies are in HD on one channel of three and carry original track i.e. English. Movies are very up to date and even ahead of Sky Movies in some respects. Sport is also HD on one or two of three channels. Carries a few Premier League matches each weekend with one 3pm normally. Sport is not in English.

i find tvcorner.com to be reasonably priced for most packages. check www.livescorehunter.com to see who has the premier league. Keep a special eye out for 3pm kickoffs!

It would be interesting to cost a Sat receiver(with Cam slot etc),dish and subscription, with Freesat thrown in and BBC 1 going HD in the Autumn, and PVR,comparing it with SKY package. You also have the fun of doing it all yourself ,properly.

The card is Seca 2 so your set top box card reader/CAM/EMU software needs to be able to read Seca 2. All linux boxes can handle this with the right EMU software. Also many other boxes have unofficial EMU versions of firmware that can read this also (MVision, Edision, Technomate etc). Presume if they are bundling a specific receiver in this case it has a Seca 2 card reader embedded.

Yeah, just checked the specs on the cyfra+ receiver and it said "built in card reader (seca)" Didn't say seca 2 though!! Thanks slegs

I've never come across a European channel with an English subtitle stream other than the ones you can get on Sky Ireland/Uk.And I suffer from tinnitus so it's something I'm always on the lookout for.You might get the odd film here and there with hardcoded English subs but that's it, very rare.

This link shows what audio streams are with which channels.

    http://www.flysat.com/cyfra.php

Can anyone tell me what sports they have the rights to? No interest in soccer. Do they show any rugby or golf? What else?
