Marinating your Cat....

Was thinking of posting this in the animal forum but figured AHers may be interested. I've often heard of kids being cruel to cats (for some reason, dogs seem to avoid the worst of it) but some loon in America decided to eat his - because it was "possessive, greedy and wasteful." Police found it marinating - yes, marinating - alive in his trunk.

    Here's the local TV report.

[watch for the friend's reaction at 1:30 - surely a new meme for shock...]

    And gawker coverage
    http://gawker.com/5609931/marinated-cat-rescued-from-car-trunk-before-becoming-owners-meal

So, is this the most bizarre case of cat cruelty you've heard, or are there others?

No different to eating a chicken, pig, cow, lamb, turkey, etc imo.

What kind of moron tries to marinate meat when it's still alive and covered in fur?

Bit of a dick move by the new family just renaming him like he was a text file or something.

Apart from the fact that I can't see your typical domestic tabby tasting too nice (cats bred for eating are going to be different) it really isn't.

Also, we have to get away from this position that it's cruel to kill and eat certain animals but not to kill and eat others. Either it's alright to kill and eat things or it's not. Assuming the method of dispatch is humane, there's no logical basis for the distinction. I have no problem with someone slaughtering an animal for food, regardless of the animal in question, provided it's done humanely. This is of course notwithstanding protected species and endangered species, where certain controls prevail.

The housecats have a bit more flavour and are a little tenderer, though, than the battery-reared cats.

    Must be the free-range thing.

Probably misread the recipe as catatouille.

It's no convenience snack. I'd to cook my fella nine times before he was done.

At least they're all killed in a more humane/less painful manner.

    Dave White Eagle?

    Now there is a name.
Sounds like a superhero name someone would make up for themselves.

Sounds like he has done this before. I wonder if any of his neighbours pets have gone missing or turned up covered in bbq sauce.

Since the guy didn't kill his cat, how do you know? Also, the methods for factory slaughter, particularly for smaller animals such as fowl, are not pretty, and definitely not as humane as they might be.

****ing thing was watching yer man whacking off.
