Finding the news reporting bizarre. Yesterday morning markets down, reported as due to Chinese signalling negative outlook. By afternoon, markets are gaining again on foot of the Fed keeping interest rates low. Today, so far, markets down on negative outlook of the Fed from statement yesterday.

Obviously the news is just adapting their angle from the actual movement of the markets and has nothing to do with the real fundamental reasons for that happening.

Have to say it's starting to wreck my head. I use Google Finance and the news takes up a lot of the screen so I do take it in and then look at the prices, or vice versa. Are all the free Finance portals like this?

Doesn't it always go on like this though?
Or are you saying it's a new thing?

They are just headlines and they are usually anticipated. So if they announce that futures are down because china manufacturing is slowing down then it is true because it was already factored in. The price you see today has all the news factored in. They can say whatever they like and it is usually true.

Obviously any economic indicator that releases data for the month is signifigant news. Sometimes news will have a surprise effect on the markets and will be worth hearing. All news is relevant and important.

If you actually watch the news all day you will get a better idea. That's why opinions are so richly sought.

Bullish told me that DRV would drop from 27 dollars and base at 25 dollars for a good entry and this week we would see a rapid downturn in the market. How he knows these things elude me and i assume it is because he has factored in all of indicators and the news and has a general idea of what is going to happen.

I would have told him crox was seen as a good stock. Opinions are worth a fortune.

Yeah you're right. Just a rant I guess. I'm just sick of them reporting so called "news" and having it so prominently displayed on your main Google finance page. I don't trade daily/intra trade or whatever it's called, so I don't need to scrutinise what's in the news that affects stocks on a day by day basis. I have my own sources for getting news which I use for my long term investing.

Anyone know of a useful portfolio holding system online with no news on lead page?

Well if you keep freaking out about it when the market goes down maybe you are not banking enough of your profits when the going is good?

When I say it's only money I do believe that is how one should view it. And at the same time you have to be working your ass off to be making the best investment decisons you can make. It sounds contradictory but it's really not.

"Sell in May and go away"

This is the silly season with thin volumes etc and no real direction in the market.
