    Hi,

Basically, my situation is that I came out of a long-term relationship a few years ago, then last year I had a relationship that lasted a few months. I was upset after both ended and had resolved that I was going to stay single for the foreseeable future, which has been the situation for the past year and I've been fairly happy this way, I keep busy and enjoy doing my own thing. I've been asked out on a date on Saturday afternoon by someone I've met on two occassions recently when we were out among other people. Although he seems like a nice guy, I'm scared to date again, I don't even know if I want to be in a relationship at the moment, I actually enjoy being single. Do people think I should go on the date, see what happens or call it off now? Feel so confused. Thanks!

Never, ever limit your potentially positive life experiences due to prior negative ones. If you want to remain single, then by all means do. But don't do it due to fear, do it because it's what you want.

    HI OP,

I was compelled to reply to your post because im in exactly the same situation. Have come out of a long term relationship last year, and met a guy a few months ago that ended badly .

I'm really scared to start dating properly again too. Have met a guy I'm interested in like you .

But you know what , I figure , one date doesnt mean you have to spend the rest of your life with this guy.

IMO you should meet up and see how it goes , and if you dont feel its right then dont see him again. You never know you might be pleasantly surpised, but if you dont go , you might always ask yourself what if....? ;)

Yes, but some time down the road your biggest regrets will not be the things you did, it will be the things you didn't do.

been there too (and I'm male!)... had the same thoughts and worries etc, but ya know what whilst first person i went on a 'date' with, and in fairness coffee on a sunday afternoon isn't a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, didn't work out, (because of my fears and not wanting to get involved) as time progressed and I met more people, I actually started to enjoy em.

Nothing like sitting down with a 'nice' person, having a drink, eats, whatever, you're not planning the aisle walk on date 1, its just a catch up, as pimbeche said you might be pleasantly surprised.

afternoon dates are much better when ya having those thoughts, cos then ya call em 'coffee with a friend' if the whole 'date' word brings ya out in the proverbial rash!..

and you'll still be 'single' when ye part ways that evening!
