    Hey,

Does anyone know what software I can download to extract all files from an old SEGA GD ROM System disk?

    Thanks

Hmmm... I think you need a specific drive in order to read these or alternatively you can use the broadband adapter and a hack to rip them to a hard drive. I'm sure someone here will provide you with the info for backing up your GD-Roms

BB adaptor can be expensive. Cheaper alternative is a "coders cable", but maybe just as hard to get hold of.

Google and you'll find schematics on how to make. There is a USB version which is probably faster than the serial coders cable. I have a serial, and it works fine, but is slow. I initially got it to rip the music out of MSR, but ended up downloading an ISO, and ripped the tracks from that instead.

This site is in Japanese, but you only have to look at the pictures to realise "WOW!".

Looking at that site, it looks like an SD-Card Ripping setup would be easier/quicker

But, why would yea want to rip games when they can be found if yea look in a nice iso format?

    This makes sense.

Ripped DC games wont work unless you have a Utopia boot disk and even at that you have to make sure its ripped correctly (to fit on a CD).

Most of the ISO's availabe now are self booting and will save you from doing a lot of work in the long run.

Well, since he didn't specify Naomi I/II most folks will default think about Dreamcast disks.

If its Naomi GD-ROMs your looking for info for to enable yea to dump them into the CHD format, check out here

Your gonna need a Dreamcast and a Broadband Adapter - the BBAs from the last time I looked are still expensive as they are becoming rare.

Once dumped, yea will still need to ensure that someone has also dumped the decryption key from the games key chip. Without that your in a boat without a paddle. Info on what security chips have had their decryption keys dumped here

Dreamcast / Naomi / CHD images are pretty easy to find these days. What with Bit torrent and all. I have the latest mame CHDs and there over 105Gigs at this stage....

I have them all too, up to .138 I think. Believe me when I say, they aint worth the space. Most of them don't work on Mame yet. LoGiE, is there any way to convert the images for use on Daphne?

Well the Naomi ones do. I had the likes of Space Ace in mind when describing chd's not working in Mame. Don't tell me you've hacked your xxxx-in-1 board to run Space Ace via NullDC? "Laughs"
