Sounds like he can afford it
The nation's system for imposing speeding fines directly relates to the offender's income.

If the fine's £600k then his income's probably large enough for it not to bother him too much.

should have waited till he got to Germany

Germany in a built up area it would have been:
    680, - EUR, 4 points, 3 months driving ban

And in a non builtup area:
    600, - EUR, 4 points, 3 months driving ban

    Bit of a difference :)

Obviously, but its only fair to compare the same offence. i.e. breaking a speed limit.

I mean he could have just waited till he got to a track :)

This is nothing compared to the guy who's son was caught speeding in Holland in a Bugatti Veyron and had his Bugatti Veyron impounded indefinitely.

    Read that alright...

Even more of a kicker is that the Veyron in the Netherlands with BPM costs 1.8 million euros. Roughly 750,000 euros of that is registration tax.

    Edit:

    This is the car :)

Wasn't there a chap before who got a similar fine?
I believe it's based off your previous year's income and the guy that got fined had recently declared bankruptcy :D

    Although he wasn't bankrupt :)

I loled. Wouldn't be bothered over him thought. They take part of his income if I am correct. so if they got allmoust 1mil of his income, I can imagine how bog was his cake :).

On the ather side, he chose quite cheap car to do this stunt. I can bet he will be going for 300 next time!

I heard aswell that speed cameras failed to get the real speed he was doing :)

It seems that the 242mph speeding ticket theory is nonsense. That was merely the speed that Arthur Chirkinian claimed the car reached. He said he slowed down when he saw the cops, and the actually speeding ticket was for a much lower speed, 127mph or 180mph depending on which website you read.

This is a car that tops 90 km (242 mph).

    Good quality journalism there...

I am for having the The Swiss/German/Dutch system should be applied here. Automatic ban with car impounded indefinitely.

I have no pity for him and hope it bankrupts him. What was he trying to proove? He was putting peoples lives in danger...If he wants kill himself well then thats fine but its not fair to put other peoples lives in danger with his reckless speed. If he wants to race..then take his car to a track and we'll see how good he really is.

I think it's possible in Finland, a Nokia executive if my memory serves me right.

It's interesting to note that all of these countries that have 'realistic' speed limits and 'good roads' as admired so much by the 'ordinary decent speeders' here on boards (or ODS drivers, for short), also have very real penalties compared to the mild slap on the wrist drivers get here, if they are caught at all given the low level of enforcement here.
