PPS Number problem!

Back in 2005 I got my first job in a hotel (I was 15) and my dad told me my PPS number. I've been using it where required for 5 years now, including multiple jobs, which all worked out ok. But now I've started working in Woodies DIY and for the last 2 1/2 months I've been emergency taxed.

My last job was over 2 years ago in Subway and I never received a p45 on leaving. Now the tax office claims no records of my PPS number exist on their system, and I don't know what to do next. Do I fill out form 12A or do I go to the Social Welfare office and try to figure out why my records disappeared?

I'm owed about 1500 in emergency tax over the last few months already, and it's only get worse.

    :(

Have a look at the following link
    http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Topics/PPSN/Pages/faq.aspx

Not sure why Revenue would not have your number(considering you previously paid tax) - unless it was an invalid PPSN.

But Welfare are the body charged with allocating the PPSN. If you want to find a definitive answer for your PPSN, I suggest you contact them:

Do you have a payslip from any of your previous jobs? Preferably a final one, but any one will do. Does it show any employer PRSI?

Back near the start of any of your previous jobs, have you received a tax-credit certificate in the mail? (They come from Revenue, not the employer)

Any chance that you could have mis-understood what Revenue told you?
