Which carrier to use for iPhone

I'd like to start a discussion on problems/features of the operator/carrier for the iPhone in Ireland, just to have them in one place.

The tethering options for individual carriers
    Application Supported by operators
    Data costs
    And anything else.

Since I only have experience of Vodafone, I can mention a few things.

1- Tethering is not included in the standard Vodafone iPhone plans, you need to get a tethering bundle. But, after 6 months you can switch away from the iPhone plans (which are called PCA+) and pick a standard plan and a data bundle that will include everything.

2- A lot of iPhone apps won't work on the Vodafone network, here's a list

    That list is hopelessly inaccurate.

I'm on Vodafone and just watched Sky News Live and RTE Live over 3G. Also WunderRadio and Facebook work perfectly.

You're using a iPhone, with the lasted carrier file on the live apn (The live apn is the default, and is difficult to change with iOS 4). If so, you're the only one that has it working.

Haven't messed with any APNs since getting an iPhone 4 from Vodafone on launch day - as I've had no issues (other than getting them to switch on picture messaging).

I just tried the Sky and RTE apps on wireless, and then 3G (inside an office) and both worked perfectly.

I'd like to think I'm unique - but I doubt it! :pac:

Awesome! Can't explain what's going on though.

I think that vodafone are the carrier to use if money is not an option, due to there exceptional network coverage and international data roaming incentive.

If money is an option, I think three is the way to go - but you will have an intermittent 3G connection so you will have to rely on wi-fi.

I think o2 are smack in the middle, but there pricing is a little bit stale also.

I got the 4 with 02. I had a 3GS before that and never really had any problems. If ur on the new advance plan ya can tether up to the 2gb limit

That is just odd. I personally know lots of people with the problem, and as I said, even Vodafone admit there is a problem. I wonder what the difference is.

Did you have any hassle getting it unlocked?? i was goinna go voda payg aswell even had the order ready to go but decided the apple store unlocked was the way to go, seen as they were more or less the same price and i could just order a sim and get the same amount of free credit etc. quite suprised with that.
