Premier League Match Betting Challenge

Evening lads, something new for this season.

Each week we're going to select one game from the English Premier League and one game only to have an individual betting thread on, we want everyone to chip in with their opinions and try and find the best bets possible and make some money.

If everyone put their minds to talking through a game I think we could come up with some decent money making opportunities, if all goes to plan! 50 heads are better than one.

I'll put up a poll at the beginning of each week to select what game to go over, then whatever you guys say goes. It'll be games that aren't completely one sided and where it'll take a bit of initiative to break down and find some good bets.

Talk through the bets, what avenues can be exploited in the betting, like overs/unders, anytime scorers etc etc. At the end of the week or the night before the match we'll wrap it up and hopefully have a couple of conclusions made as to who to back, what to back and what time we'll be collecting our winnings at. :pac:

    So effectively this is how it'll go;

    1. Poll with game choices go up, you vote, poll closes, highest voted game is selected.
    2. Separate match thread goes up. (All other games discussed in the main thread)
    3. We talk through what bets we think have a chance, if we can get one that the majority fancy we can back it if we want.
    4. We can work from a 1-5pt scale, decide on how much we think said bets chances of coming through are and keep a running total.
    5. As many as 3 bets from ALL markets can be decided on by the end of the week and 'stakes' decided by the majority.
    6. In the long run if people put their minds into trying to analyse a game it WILL make money.

Anyone can contribute, even if you don't want to back something in the chosen game just join in.

    Rules are quite simple.

    1. No crappy one line posts saying 'bet X is a sure thing' etc. Do this and you'll be warned!
    2. The majority decides, this is a democracy after all.
    3. I am the majority.

    :pac:

And Super-Rush says 'No after-timing'. :pac:

    Good idea, imo.

It was between Spurs v City and Liverpool v Arsenal, but I went with Spurs v City because I think it'll be the better game. Would be happy with Liverpool v Arsenal, as well, though.

I knew everyone would pick the one that's the closest time-wise! :pac:

Plus the hardest one to call of the lot.

Opinions on this idea overall are welcome too.

Very good idea, as you said, 50 heads are better than 1.

I'll try and pop in when I can and add some insight to the matches in question if there's anything exploitable in my mind.

Good idea, will be interesting to see how it works out.

Gone for Wolves-Stoke myself and out of the options I think this offers the best value.

I think this could be a good idea, but think emotions could potential make this backfire. So to keep it neutral maybe avoid doing it for the bigger supported clubs. That way (the majority?)people will not be giving comments on the team they support otherwise bias comments could sway opinions.

    I voted for Bolton/Fulham btw

Spurs v City is the one game I will be avoiding big-time. Who really knows hows its going to go. Any 50-50 game you are prob better off goin for the home team.

    went for arsenal v liverpool,
feel there is money to be won by backing arsenal win,or even double chance.

Yeah it think it's the one to avoid too, most seem to want it! I think the Liverpool/Arsenal game is the money maker of the weekend, it'll be mine anyways. :pac:

Voting stops at 6pm so keep 'em coming.

I actually picked the City Spurs game, but being a City fan I aint gonna back anything in it.Wish you's all the best with this idea and I'm sure I'll be involved down along the line!

Another thing I was thinking, got the idea off the Betfair forum last season, was picking a team from England and backing them or against them each week. You get to know the team in and out and start to know strengths and weaknesses etc.Think your man last season had Port Vale and he seemed to do okay
