The 3-Month Rule in WWE

There seems to a a time honored saying on the internet, that anything that happened more than 3-months ago is completely forgotten on the WWE Universe, e.g. Randy Orton nearly killing Cena's father with a punt-kick to the head during their program, then a year later or so on RAW, Cena is choosing Orton as his "mystery" partner a while ago on RAW.

This I had come to accept.

But recently RAW has been pushing out the boundaries of what I as a fan can overlook without going crazy....

TWO WEEKS AGO - Edge & Chris jericho opened the show and stated how much they hated each other and were such bitter, bitter rivals. They said that they would try to end one anothers careers that night on RAW. they then had the match and nexus interfered.

Last week on RAW the same two men are backstage saying how much they have respected each other and shaking hands and forming an allicance?!?

    Then we have Khali....

Khali for the last year has been dancing & generally acting the fool....is now meant to be taken as a serious threat to Nexus again! As if nothing has happened since his program with 'Taker

Had to get that off my chest, its gettin ridiculous!

(For the more stringent fan, does anyone remember years ago Booker T receiving a letter backstage saying something like "I still Remember" and then it was never brought up again on wwe tv!!!?)

I wouldn't be surprised if Triple H comes back and starts talking about knocking up "SOME WOMAN" again like he was in DX, despite the whole him being Vince's son-in-law thing was brought up during his Orton feud

Or the countless Triple H V John Cena matches that have been called. "The greatest Main Event in the history of Raw!"

WWE always does confusing things to suit them I remember a Hell in a Cell match on Raw in 98 (Kane vs Mankind) that ended in a DQ.Finlay got eliminated from a Rumble by DQ.The consistency of the writing in particular is pretty awful if you watch the shows back to back.Anyone remember Edge beat Batista once & the rules stated he would never get a rematch yet about 5 months later he did, guess thats evidence of the 3 month Attension span of the Writers and Bookers.TNA does it a lot too.

Wwe 'killed off' vince McMahon in 3 out of the last 4 Junes.
Yet each one had no reference to the one previous. Nothing.

With one of them(the car explosion) I think they were going to run with it, but then Benoit died and i think they thought it wasn't in good taste and had Vince himself give a message at the start of RAW killing the angle.

the other one i can remember is the stage falling on him during million dollar mania. was there no excuse given for how he returned from that?

    what was the 3rd one?

yeah exactly the 3-month rule is common practice, and you'll find countless contradictions once you go beyond the 3 months. It's now that they're doing things within mere weeks of each other than don't make sense that is annoying me

Vince is in a vegetive/unconscious state. No idea why, family is very upset.. Etc etc.
    Happened after mania this year?

    It's Kane and "fake Kane".

Fake Kane had a few run ins with normal Kane.
Until he had a match when Kane brought him backstage and pushed him through a door.
Never to be seen, heard of or understood.

I expected them to bring it back up later, but nope.

Kane also took the original mask off the "fake" and said "I Believe this belongs to me!!" sparking rumours kane was going to don the mask again, but no! there was no reason for that remark

as in Bret Hart did it to him?

Shane came out and said they wanted to keep the matter private after the stage fell on him that time

"I believe this belongs to me.... I've been looking everywhere for it....!"
Some kids had no idea what was going on at all.

No no, remember the post mania raw?
Vince came out, said bret had won fair, that things were finally put to rest etc.
A few weeks later, out of nowhere, vince is effectively 'dead'... Again.
But with no reason nor resolution.

    Wasn't this the reason?

Seems like this rule gets cut very short when it comes to Jericho. I've lost count of the amount of stipulation matches he's lost in the past year  only for that not to matter the very next week :) He hates Edge, wants to end him  actually nah, he respects him and they'll work together :) Hey Miz, wanna form a tag team and get revenge on the Big Show on Smackdown? :) Gave up trying to get my revenge you say?

Maybe it was Kane who also took out Vince along with Taker

    Maybe it was masked Kane.
And he is also the leader of the nexus.

    And the RAW gm.

.. And the one abyss calls 'they' on impact.
    Yeah. Seems plausible.
