Custom made wedding bands?

I was thinking that it would be nice to get a wedding band with a Celtic kind of design. The way I see it, is that it's likely to be the only ring I ever wear so it should be special.
So was thinking of getting a his and hers set like - http://www.irishshop.com/irishweddingrings.html

I would prefer to get a custom design though, anyone know a place that would do this that doesn't break the bank? Her engagement ring is cleaning me out and I can't spend a fortune on the wedding bands.

I had a ring made which had ogham engraved with a custom message. Only myself and my fiancee know what it says, she has not decided on her ring yet, but is considering getting a similar message.

I am based in Scotland, so I am not sure if you want to order online or actually want to go to the jewellers, but I got mine here http://www.mahailia.com/

Scots must like their custom-made wedding rings! :D

We got matching bands, they are unusual as most celtic bands have a stamped pattern but ours are cut thru, in white gold. The goldsmith that made them has since passed away but we just called in on a few gold and silversmiths who specialised in celtic design until we found one we liked and who understood what we were looking for. I think they were about 700 quid apiece.

Maybe call around a few gold/silversmiths and see what they can do and for how much?

Us Irish people do as well :p

I forgot to say that mine was £150 because I got it in silver, because my OH has a platinum band on her engagement ring she would like a platinum wedding ring which would be considerable more expensive

We paid €850 for our bands. His was more expensive than mine. Mine was a standard yellow gold band but I had to get it moulded to fit the engagement ring which cost about €200.

I'd reckon for 2 customised gold bands it would be at least €1.5k considering most of the cost will be design and production

i don't think it would be nearly that much... my engagement ring cost €1700, that was for twelve grams of platinum with ten stones set in it (had them myself)....it would have been one third of the price if it was gold...and it's a chunky ring.

We got our rings from Smooch and were really happy with them. The person came out to the house with a load of rings for us to try. We could then mix and match any aspects we liked from the rings and change them in any way we wanted. I'm also pretty sure they would design rings from scratch. Were a good price too.

Yes, I am so excited thinking about it, I even have her parents and friends in on it, she will see the ring for the first time in the church and I know she will just love it!
The engagement ring is her choice but the wedding rings will be my little surprise :)
