I am looking for advice on the best bit of kit. I sometimes do not have someone with me for lamping so it is awkward tryind to hold lamp and get on target and shoot so think a scope mounted lamp would be good. I want something compact and with a good beam for foxes up to 200 yards clearly I have looked at the lightforce but they are still quite big, Suggestions please Kitty (€200)

Light force all the way. If ya want to light 'em up at the 200 yd mark then I suggest a 170 scope mounted. The 140 is a bit tidier but lacks the throw of the bigger and better 170;)

What Kay 9 said :) Two "extras" to consider getting are a dimmer option on the lamp and an amber filter - better than red for foxes as it doesn't cut out as much light but changes it all the same.

Myself and the Son use the hand-held Ucalller Night-Eye, a clone of the LF-170, to scan the fields with and a scope mounted torch. I found that the scope mounted LF-170 kept twisting on the scope every time the rifle was taken out from the car and was not on the point of aim when looking through the scope.

The way I have the torch setup it can't move away from the POA and is always on the target when you mount the rifle for the shot.
Look through the tips section here for the article.
