Marathon Training Group

Hi Folks. I'm looking for some advice on joining a training group ahead of the Dublin marathon.

I've been ploughing a lone furrow over the last few months and now know it was a mistake, that I have been training stupidly and need to start training smart if I am to achieve my goals.

Spoke to the old man and my sister - who have both gone sub 3 (the old man well under) - and they both told me I needed to start doing speed work, tempo work and calm down on the mileage.

I've done little if any of the above and am wont to just going out and legging it around for 8-10 miles a night as quickly as I can and then doing a bit more on a Sunday. Now I know that's just dumb. I have serious pacing issues.

Anyway, I've been advised to join a group, but wouldn't even know where to start as I am in no way involved in the running 'scene'.

I know it's late in the day, but can anyone recommend a group that might be suitable. I'm not a member of a club and would hope to run sub 65 for the 10 mile and then around 3h for the marathon, all going well.

    Thanks in advance.
