i am in my early 20s and have been working part time since may 2007 and 2008 than got 30-39hours from 2009 to present (all with same company), on my payslip it says tax credit and it has a figure around 2000euro. i can hardly claim that back can I? Also I hear there is a trade union tax back? Anyone know anything about this and also I am renting a house with a mate and someone told me I can reclaim tax, is this true?

    1. If the figure your referring to is 1830 Euro then this is a non-refundable tax credit

    2. The trade union subscription is 70 Euro which you can claim against your income regardless of amount paid

    3. Rent relief to max of 400 Euro (or 800 if married)

on my payslip it says Gross to datw at 10359.60 cut off is 23176.89 and tax credit is 2338.71, these figures refer to my most recent payslip for week 33

we are close to 2/3 the way through the year. (33/52)
    Your payslip reflects this.

So the tax credit figure reflects that around 33/52 of 3660 is claimed versus income.

(note. the actual amount of Tax Credits depends on your own circumstances)

You should talk to your employer with these questions really

You can only get a refund of tax paid not tax credits.

Looking at your gross for the 33 weeks for this year, you wouln't earn enough to pay any tax for the 52 wks so you won't get any back. Tax credits simply reduce your tax liability. They do not bring you into refund situation. If you have paid tax and have additional credits to claim, the additional credits reduce your liability and you then get a refund of the tax you have paid.

With regards to your query on your older refunds, it usually gets refunded in about a week after you get your p21 but may take longer
