Hi guys I am looking for a bit of advice for my younger cousin!!!

She is 17, about a size 16 on top, 14 on the bottom and has a biggish tummy, like me when I was 17 she HATES HATES shopping!!! We are going to our cousins wedding in England at the end of this month!!

Her mum says a maxi would be nice but she is about 5' 2" and I am unsure!!! My younger sisters wear boob tube lipsy dresses but she is way more self conscious than them and would never wear a dress like that... Don't think she minds showing her legs but I don't know if a maxi is the best but her mum says it would be!!

Suggestions please on what would be nice / appropriate!! Its not a very dressy wedding!!!

    Thanks

In all fairness if she's 5'2" and size 16, a maxi is going to look like she's wearing a tent.

What about something from New Look? You might get her into one shop :) They'll be a respectable length on her - they always look like barely ass-covering on the models but aren't too bad in reality.

The Curves section on asos only starts at size 20 so if she's a 16 she won't be able to buy from there.

I second not putting her in a maxi dress. Also, if she's bigger on top than she is on the bottom don't put ruffles anywhere near her top half as it will make her look bigger on top and out of proportion.

What kind of stuff does your cousin like to wear?

Oh I know no ruffles, they are bad!!! We (younger sister and I) were looking at baby doll dresses today, I emailed her some suggestions so I have an idea what she likes!!! I just looked at a photo of her on FB and she had a skirt on and she has good legs (nice and slim in comparasion to the rest of her - not meant bitchily but I am slim on top (size 10 and have bigish legs)!!!

Not reall sure what she likes, but I think a shortish dress that falls from the bust?!?!

    Thanks for all the suggestions!!!

Dresses that fall from the bust aren't great if you've got a tummy (like me). Fitted but not clingy can be way more flattering. I'm about the same height and dress size and if I wear anything baggy I look way bigger than I am. There's a range in Debenhams, it's part of the Red Herring range, something like Special Collection, they often have really nice dresses that would be suitable for a wide age range. I got a great black prom dress there last year. A lot of the other ranges in Debenhams could look too old on a 17 year old. Lipsy dresses can be gorgeous but a lot of them only look good if you're very slim. They're not the most generous in the bust either.

Thanks, see I have big legs and slim waist and tummy and my sisters both have small boobs so we are not the best at shopping for our cousins size!!

We will try Debenehams, thanks a million!!!
